This is finally coming to an end, we are making our last minor bug fixes since i really want to release MoneyTalks as clean as possible. Though it very much seems that this is where it only begins to start. There are 2 general opinions regarding startup's development. One is that you could be very lucky and the other is that you probably won't... I think the Truth as always belongs outside of those 2 mainstreams and its not an exception here. Who's better republicans or democrats? Who's right the religion or science? We are so busy arguing that we are unable to recognize that the both polarities are lies.
I was surfing the Web to find some opinions before I realized that they are often made by people that belong to their specific experience(which should seem to be the right thing) or they are made by people who stand in the position of revealing some of their secrets that gave them their success. So if you think about it most of this is a complete bla-bla talk. First group is just unable to determine the right steps for success(and hence share it) the second should be silent(or lie) or they will just make the first group their competitors.
The things I am talking about cannot be proved and they really shouldn’t be. But there are always facts that supplement(or contradict) your theory/model you just need to pay attention to them. In the context there were a couple of facts that proved my theory.
For instance in iTunes connect I crushed into the keywords section. I just realized I have no idea what words should be used as keywords for my application. I was surfing the Web to find out that keywords shouldn’t be used at all otherwise App Store will not be indexing your app description (compare 4000 characters vs 100 and you’ll figure it out). But that info was a bit outdated, these days App Store indexes keywords, app/developer name, some more items which I shouldn’t be talking about but it doesn’t index app description. At all.
All App Store SEO articles I bumped into were completely useless. They could tell you about SEO in general or practices of SEO for search engines such as google but nothing specific about the appstore SE robot or its algorithms. If there are no people revealing such crucial information what make you think that the information revealed is of any use?
Since I do have some SEO background I decided to make my own research on the appstore SE algorithms. To this date I can say that I understand 90-95% of the algorithms of the engine and I will reveal some of that next posts. But what I am completely missing is the keywords popularity list. I did almost perfect keywording for MoneyTalks but I was using google’s data on the popularity of those words. I am 100% confident that if there were some data on the AppStore words popularity vs the Google words popularity many would be surprised.
To be continued..
